Twenty-four years later. They need to retest DNA from the backpack. With all the technology improvements, they should be able to solve this once and for all.

did they look into her friends and her family? They would know the friend was meeting them there.

This case has always stuck in my mind because it's so unclear what even happened. I have to think there must've been something on the backpack tying it to the car Ashley was riding in. But even if the driver was identified... at this point I'm not sure how it can even be proven that a crime took place, beyond leaving the scene of an accident. The driver could claim that Ashley met up and got in the car willingly (which seems to be supported by eyewitness accounts from the school), then suddenly on the highway had some sort of episode and jumped out. Regardless I hope the driver is identified and faces some sort of accountability.
