The victim, Brandi Berg, 37, of Riverside, RI, was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence where she was pronounced dead, spokesman Gregg Miliote said in a release issued around 10:30 p.m."

"Police have identified a suspect in the shooting of a 37-year-old Riverside, R.I., woman while she was parked in a vehicle in the parking lot of the Fashion Crossing Plaza on Route 1 around 6 p.m. Saturday, and are asking the public's help in the search for the man."

The Bristol County District Attorney's office issued a statement early Sunday evening saying: "We are actively searching for Steven Fregeolle, 32, of Johnston, RI, for the homicide of Brandi Berg in North Attleboro last night."

It asks people with any information on the case to contact North Attleboro Police Sgt. Richard McQuade at 508-695-1212."

"The man who killed an East Providence woman on Saturday night, before taking his own life Sunday, was obsessed with her and had been harassing her, authorities said Monday.

The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office released a summary of its preliminary investigation into the death of Brandi Berg, 37, who was shot to death in the parking lot of the Fashion Crossing Plaza in North Attleboro. Authorities identified the shooter as Steven Fregeolle, 32, of Johnston. Fregeolle was found dead Sunday night in the woods in Charlestown of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

According to the report, Berg’s boyfriend told authorities that Berg and Fregeolle had previously worked together at a car dealership in Warwick, and that at one point they had been in a relationship. The boyfriend said that Fregeolle had recently been displaying “obsessive behavior” toward Berg — texting her frequently and contacting her friends and family members in an attempt to locate her. Several of the messages he categorized as desperate, according to the district attorney’s office.

The boyfriend said that just before the shooting, which occurred at 6:17 p.m. Saturday, Berg had texted him that Fregeolle was in the Fashion Crossing parking lot and had confronted her about seeing someone else."
