STATE POLICE SEARCHING FOR MISSING LYNN MAN

The Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit for Suffolk County is investigating the disappearance of Dickson “Joel” De Los Reyes, 24, of Lynn, who did not return to his home after leaving a party in Chelsea early on the morning of June 11.

Evidence indicates that De Los Reyes got into a LYFT ride share vehicle in front of 168 Shurtleff St., Chelsea, at 3:42 AM on Sunday, June 11. The LYFT ride was terminated at approximately 3:56 AM on the same date. Upon termination of the ride, De Los Reyes’ cell phone number dialed 911 and was connected to Revere Police. The call disconnected and several attempts to call the number back by police were unsuccessful. Evidence indicates the call was made from the area of American Legion Highway in Revere. De Los Reyes has not been seen nor heard from since.

Subsequent attempts by State Police to determine the phone’s location had negative results, suggesting the phone is off.

De Los Reyes is a Hispanic male, approximately 5 feet 3 inches tall, 150 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing the clothes depicted in the first photograph from a city of Chelsea surveillance camera, which appear to be black pants, a black vest, a white long-sleeve shirt and white sneakers.

If you have any information regarding this investigation, please contact Trooper Timothy Burns of the State Police Detective Unit for Suffolk County at 617-727-8817, or the Massachusetts State Police Troop A Headquarters at 978-538-6020, or simply call 911.

Two additional cell phone photos of De Los Reyes are included here as well.

Massachusetts State Police are working to locate the Lyft driver who picked up a 24-year-old Lynn man from a party in Chelsea early Sunday morning after a 911 call came from the Lynn man’s cell phone at the end of the ride.

State police said Friday afternoon that divers were searching marshland off Route 107 near the line between Revere and Saugus.

A pastor who knows De Los Reyes' family told Telemundo Nueva Inglaterra that the missing man's clothes and wallet were found in the area where police are searching.

Found deceased :( .

According to Dave Procopio of Massachusetts State Police, the body of missing Lynn man Dickson “Joel” De Los Reyes has been recovered by the State Police Underwater Recovery Unit in marshland along Route 107 in Revere.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has taken custody of De Los Reyes and will conduct a post-mortem examination.

This is such a strange situation. The Lyft ends in the middle of Rumney marsh and his phone calls 911. He must’ve felt like he was in danger, right?

Why did the Lyft stop if he was headed home to Lynn? I am very much hoping that they are able to determine who the Lyft driver was and can see his or her whereabouts after this. Sometimes Lyft drivers have cameras… fingers crossed that they can get their hands on something to explain the situation.

RIP Dickson

MOO

This reminds me so much of another case I followed here at WS. Of course, circumstances for Dickson “Joel” De Los Reyes may be completely different.

That being said, In this other case, a teen and his friend took a hallucinogenic drug which made him paranoid. A Lyft driver who was trying to take the boy home was forced to let the teen off in the middle of a bridge over the San Francisco Bay when the teen insisted and started attacking the driver, thinking he was being kidnapped. Tragically, it is believed he jumped. His body was found months later.
WS - Teen exited bridge after dispute, 10 Feb 2021

Tragic and such a loss—both of these young people. I wonder if we will hear more details on Dickson Joel’s case soon.

"Massachusetts State Police are working to locate the Lyft driver who picked up a 24-year-old Lynn man from a party in Chelsea early Sunday morning after a 911 call came from the Lynn man’s cell phone at the end of the ride (at 3:56am).

Dickson “Joel” De Los Reyes has been missing since he left the Chelsea party at 3:42 a.m. on Sunday, June 11

At the same time the Lyft ride ended, about 14 minutes later at 3:56 a.m, police said, a 911 call came in to the Revere Police Department from De Los Reyes’ cell phone number"

Maybe the LYFT driver was posing as a LYFT driver. Joel was intoxicated. Perhaps he got into the wrong vehicle. Maybe the driver was a killer and not a LYFT driver after all. How do we know Joel called for a LYFT if Police are still searching for the driver? It was lucky that Joel was located but how did he end up in the Marshes?

Joel was discovered on Friday, June 16 at 8:30pm WFXT reported that the body was seen in the Rumney Marsh Reservation after an aerial search.

It appears the Lyft driver was located and questioned, but I guess investigators are not revealing any more than that about what was learned from the driver:

(bolded by me )

“Investigators told The Boston Globe they found no signs that De Los Reyes Gomez had suffered any external trauma, though a Massachusetts State Police spokesperson said Tuesday that officials were still waiting for toxicology test results. State police did not immediately respond to Boston.com’s request for details.

Authorities also reviewed camera footage and interviewed the Lyft driver and other people who attended the party in Chelsea, the state police spokesperson told the Globe.”

Questions remain in death of Lynn man who went missing earlier this month

Also seems similar to Bryce Borca, who went missing in Minnesota after a rideshare ride last October.
