Still no arrests following Weymouth shooting that left one dead

WEYMOUTH — No arrests have been made nearly two weeks after a shooting at the Mastlight apartment complex in Union Point that left one man dead and at least two others injured.

David Traub, a spokesman for Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey's office, said the Weymouth Police Department and Massachusetts State Police detectives continue to investigate the shooting. Traub said police have not released any new information publicly about the progress of the investigation.

Officials have identified the man killed in Jan. 31 shooting as Eric C. Small, 30, of Cambridge. Two other men were taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds and another was hospitalized for other medical reasons.

Police received calls about the shooting just before 3 a.m. at the Mastlight apartment complex, which is on Patriot Parkway at the former South Weymouth Naval Air Station.

"It appears there was a gathering at a townhouse apartment at 30 Patriot Parkway and some kind of incident caused a spill out into the rear parking lot area and there were numerous shots fired," Morrissey said after the shooting.

Police found Small near one of the entrances to the building. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

A MetroLEC SWAT team arrived at the scene after the shooting as a precaution but was cleared after the scene was deemed safe. MetroLEC is a regional law enforcement cooperative of 45 towns on the South Shore and in the suburbs of Boston.
