Mr. Metcalf, 61, was living in a rooming house on Elm Street and often walked to his job as a security guard at properties on Grand Street and Austin Street.

He is described as being 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighing about 190 to 200 pounds, with sandy hair and blue eyes, wearing a black jacket over a red or black hoodie, black pants and black boots.

Mr. Metcalf has been known to frequent the Pennywise Market on May Street and the Pickle Barrel on Pleasant Street. He often shopped at the Dollar Store.

has no history of mental illness, no pre-existing medical condition and no substance abuse problems.

In December, Gary Metcalf's car developed mechanical trouble - that he could no longer rely on it for transportation. It was at that point that he began walking from his house on Elm Street to his midnight shift as a security guard.
(bbm) ....walking to his midnight shift... hmm...
well, I just checked street-view, Elm St, to his job on Grand St, not too terribly far; and a sidewalk on every steet. I think the area seems decent enough, but don't really know about that - particulary at night.

On another link, here's something that stood out to me: (bbm)
The last thing he had said to me was that he was concerned about losing his job," said Elizabeth, because there was someone there he had complained about not doing their job, and they were related to one of the bosses.
...hhmmm...

Also, his landlord rented out his room within two weeks, and put his stuff in the basement. Isn't that kinda quick? Didn't he have a contact (such as his sister) on file? That seems rather harsh. Unless s/he somehow knew Gary wouldn't be returning.

Some rooming houses pay by the week, so if you don't pay for 2 weeks I guess they have to move your stuff.

Is there any evidence that this is the type of tenant at will agreement he had? It would certainly make that aspect less suspicious. Also, if it was a month to month or longer term lease, it's possible with his mention of a fear of becoming homeless that he had already been served a warning from the apartment management?

Has anyone heard reports on exactly where/when he was last seen other than when his sister dropped him off at his apartment?
