CLINTON — Two elderly individuals, missing from their Massachusetts home for four days, were discovered sleeping in their car at a local gas station, by a vigilant police officer.
As part of his nightly routine, while on midnight patrol, officer Glenn Smith was checking on Clinton Gas, 154 West Main St., and discovered the two sleeping in their cold car.
In the 2001 Lincoln Continental were Andriju Janusz Melewski, 77 and his 94-year-old mother, Stanislawa Melewski.
“The driver had dementia, didn’t really know they’d been missing for three to four days,” Smith said.
After being evaluated at the Middlesex Health Shoreline Medical Center in Westbrook, the two returned home with a family member who travelled to the shoreline to pick them up.
