In the Disappeared episode about Molly Bish's case, they show pictures at the beginning. I think one of the pictures is a still picture of the crime scene (the lawn chair and Molly Bish's belongings on the beach).

One question I always wondered about this case was if Molly Bish actually sat in the beach chair? One way to have been able to tell would have been to have someone who weighs the same as Molly Bish sit down in the lawn chair.

The reason I wondered about this is because I saw something in the picture that I thought might be important. It is a small detail.

It looks like Molly Bish wore loose fitting sandals. I am going to assume that Molly Bish is like most of us if we were wearing loose fitting sandals. In order to take them off so you do not have to bend over you put one foot in front of the other and slide the sandal off your foot. This would mean once the sandal comes off it would be at least the length of your other foot in front of you. But the sandal in front of Molly Bish's lawn chair looks too close to the chair for this to have happened. Since the sand does not look disturbed around the sandal this is why I wondered if she actually ever sat down in the lawn chair.

I know there could be many different explanations like maybe one of the mothers or children at swim lessons that day moved the sandal closer to the lawn chair. Some reports say at one time both sandals were positioned in front of her lawn chair, so it is hard to know what information to believe.

There does not seem to be any sort of evidence that has been released to the public. I think police should release more information in her case if they have it. As for who abducted and murdered Molly Bish, it remains a mystery.

With hot sand on the beach and trees overhanging the beach leaving sticks in the sand, I think it is unlikely Molly Bish was walking around barefoot in the sand without her sandals on. I think this means that the abduction probably happened right near the lifeguard chair and first aid kit. If someone heard a scream that morning, how well does sound travel from that spot on the beach?

I thought I would write a post describing exactly how the items found at the Commins Pond Beach crime scene were taken out onto the beach. When I first looked at this case, I always thought Molly Bish arrived with all the items she took out with her to the beach because that is how the re-creations make it appear. I thought she brought all of them with her in the car and that the only item she only stopped to pick up each day was the police radio from the police station.

When Molly Bish got out of the car on June 27, 2000, she did not walk directly out onto the beach. She had to get the lawn chair and the first aid kit from a shed on the property. I do not know what the shed is or even if it is still there today. I think the shed could be a red barn on the property, but this is a guess. My guess is she either needed to have a combination or a key in order to open the shed. I think this because I would assume a first aid kit would have to be locked up properly.

In June 2000, the beach did not have a large white lifeguard chair like it does today. Instead, a lawn chair was used. About the only thing that is known for sure is that Molly Bish had to have visited the shed on the property to get the lawn chair and first aid kit as both items were found out on the beach along with her bookbag near the bench.

With the revelation that there is DNA in this case, this means that most likely all the people close to the crime scene have been looked into and cleared. It appears the abduction and murder was committed by someone in a white car who parked on a path at the back of St. Paul's Cemetery which is up the hill from where the beach area is. The case remains unsolved.

If there is DNA, it seems like a good case for @othram

Molly Bish

Her sister, Heather Bish, was 23 years old when Molly went missing and still recalls the details of that fateful day.

“I was 23 and my brother was 20,” Heather said in a phone interview. “I actually saw Molly 20 minutes before she went to work. I had an 11-month-old baby that Molly was godmother to.”

In 2021 authorities named a deceased convicted rapist, Francis “Frank” P. Sumner Sr., as a person of interest in the case.

WARREN, MA – AUGUST 1: Copies of People magazine featuring the vanished women, with a photo of Molly Bish on the cover, is part of the breakfast table in her parents’, John and Magi Bish, home in Warren, MA on Aug. 1, 2001.

Molly Ann Bish (August 2, 1983 June 27, 2000) was a sixteen-year-old American girl from rural Worcester County, Massachusetts, who disappeared while working as a lifeguard in her hometown of Warren, Massachusetts. Her remains were found three years later in neighboring Hampden County after what became the largest search in the state’s history
...........................
Then, in 2023, the DA, Joseph Early Jr., said that additional DNA testing was underway. However, the investigation is still ongoing. If you have information on Bish’s case, you should call 1-855-MA-SOLVE.

Investigators have reportedly received over 6,700 leads in the past few decades. According to NBC Boston, there are over 265 pieces of physical evidence stored in bags at the Massachusetts State Police Crime Lab in Sudbury

Incredibly isolated... lived there my whole life... uncountable days of my life spent there..... the closest house is probably close to maybe .25 mile from where she would post.... large dirt parking lot is only entry point... chain link fence borders property from that side with always open gate entry.. not an actual gate.... but opening in fence with concrete path from parking lot up a small grassy hill..... to the left about 40-50 yards is the shed you mentioned... not sure about the lawn chair question.... then you would at the top of the grass/ cement walkway from original entry point cross a small bridge maybe 40 feet long and you are now in what is considered the swimming side of the pond.... there is about 10-15 yards from that point of crab grass/ kinda sandy area where family's set up blankets and such.... then you hit the actual sand beach portion which in total is about another 10-15 yards.... the tall white life guard chair has actually been there my entire life... I'm 50 this year...I rode the school bus with her older siblings and watched her grow up everyday with her mom when the older 2 got on the bus..... we never had a life guard most of my life but the chair was always there... kids climbed in it more then anything.... I would venture to guess it was repainted many times over the decades or it would show a nice history of us Warren girls history of crushes....

The lifeguard area at the time was close to the middle where the sand and grass/ sand meet.... the entire pond aside from the parking lot chain link fence portion is heavy woods with a path that goes all the way around the pond and I've hiked it hundreds of times... to my knowledge there is no other paths out around the pond..... just behind the beach/ grass area is a wooded hill with a path that has 1 entry point over just add you come over the foot bridge.... you really gotta be a local to know about it out where it goes.....

It comes up and out... less then 4ish minutes walk... to the cemetery.... way way up in the back of the cemetery from the main road entry point..... from the cemetery itself there is zero chance you have any idea the path is there or where it goes.....

There is zero chance that the suspect does not have local ties... history.. and knowledge... if they used the path.... which is my best guess... parked way in the back of the cemetery... but that has not been proven as fact....

To answer the original question... there is no chance any one would hear anything at all unless they were coming from the parking lot.... which was very unlikely at that time off day...

Love to chat if anyone wants to pick my brain

Snipped by me to address this point.

Why does the abductor have to come down the hill behind the beach after Molly arrives? Is it not possible the person comes down before she arrives and simply conceals himself somewhere nearby? Then rushes out once he sees if she is alone, perhaps then deploying a ruse to get her to come with him.

I also think it's possible that he made her leave her shoes behind in order to keep more control of the situation and prevent her from running. So we have to be careful when making assumptions or inferences like "her shoes were already off so that means....".
It is basically wide open as you come from parking lot and over the foot bridge... the hill and path start immediately in front of you as you follow the open path/ walk way to the right slightly and onto the grass/ then sand area.... less then foot ball field of area... no cover at all..... there is no fear or suspicion is Warren... at least not before this.... she would not likely initially be startled by someone coming down the hill as it would likely be a "local ".... and we know everyone..... and if they came down the path it is far far more likely it may have been someone she knows...probably someone we all know....

I had one other question I wondered about if Molly Bish drank water from the water bottle. Did the beach have a porta potty? Where are the restrooms located at Commins Pond? Are they in that building by the parking lot?
There at some points have been a porta potty near the parking lot entry..... can't remember if it was there in 2000... but most likely.... no other rest room or buildings of any kind.... a red windowless shed for like maintenance stuff to my knowledge in a completely different section.....

Hope this helps.... I'm a lifetime local... rode the bus the with her siblings and watched her grow up everyday with her mom.... at the end of the driveway at bus time.... we need answers... any "local " questions you have... ask away....

We know a lot of stuff that happened right before she went missing . We do not know , who her teachers were , who went to her church, who knew she worked there .
We have years of research and profiles about abductions and missing peoples cases.
Stranger abductions are very rare they say, even rarer would be one that happened within 2 minutes.
Other things that seem to co sign the idea she knew her killer is that she was found in the neighboring county,ya know not that close, but close. And your conclusion they had to already be there ,really rings true.
Nice question.... we do... or did have a town hall clock that chimes in the hour and half hour... it has been years since I've heard it.. but i heard it thousands of times..... if that clock was going off a local would know without question... in the half hour or was a distinct separate sound... but in the hour it chimed.. then a loud slow dong that you could not help to count along with....Dong...1....Dong...2... Dong 3..... if he was due at 10 and heard the dongs you can write it on a rock....

In my heart there is zero chance the suspect did not have strong local ties and knowledge....outsiders would have zero knowledge of the path....

There was zero "stranger danger " or suspicion in our world..... no reason to be on alert or worried.....

This rocked our small town world.... I never thought it would be cold so long......

So it's believed that the perp came from the cemetery and walked down to where she was?

So it's believed that the perp came from the cemetery and walked down to where she was?
I don't believe there is hard facts on that question....

Either option is plausible in this area.... but the opinion of the path thru the woods to the cemetery would almost undeniably be a local or a semi local serial predator who really did his home work....

In one of these threads someone asked about teachers and store owners and such.... I graduated in 93.... her brother and sister were within a few years behind me... my oldest graduated years later in 2013.... over that many years i would say like 90% of the teachers ... police department.. fire dept.. the 1 pizza shop... the 1 variety store ( wasn't a gas station then.. or ever in that location) the 1 gas station was separate and across the street.... all remained the same people.... there was very few new faces just coming and going....

One local discussed theory at one point wondered about her father's disgruntled probation cases??
