Karen Read has been charged with second-degree murder, motor vehicle manslaughter and leaving the scene of a collision in the January 2022 death of her off-duty Boston Police Officer boyfriend John O'Keefe outside a Canton, Mass., home.

She's pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Leading up to his death, the couple of two years reportedly spent the night drinking and bar hopping with friends before Read, 43, dropped O'Keefe, 46, off at the home of a fellow off-duty police officer for an after-party, PEOPLE previously reported.

Prosecutors say as O'Keefe exited the vehicle, Read allegedly proceeded to make a three-point turn during a winter storm, striking her boyfriend in the process before driving off.

After O'Keefe failed to return home hours later, Read allegedly went looking for him, before finding his body in a snowbank outside the home where she allegedly left him.

I'm reading many view the Proctor family statement as evidence that he's about to be acquitted by the disciplinary board, and they're being vengeful!

IMO, I think if that was the case, he'd be toeing the line today and keep his mouth shut (and tell his family to remain silent/ST_U)! I think speaking out today says the complete opposite. We know he's still on the CW witness list released today, and I can't recall a case where the government's witness announced a press conference.

What's wrong with these people??? JMO

Don't think Proctor's family going on their media blitz will help him if he decides to take the 5th if/when he's called as a witness!

Potential jurors heard the family before and after MP terminated for cause so this is all fair game for evidence. IMO, some folks just don't know when to shut up, and doubt this would have been encouraged by the DA!

So Proctor can still appeal this decision and I feel certain that he will surely do that. In which case, he will likely want to be on his best behavior during the second trial and be cooperative during his testimony, if he wants justice, as he claims.

"Despite what the family called a “wrongful termination” and the “great harm and defamation” the Read case has inflicted upon him, Proctor “still believes justice will be served.”

“Proctor and his detectives led a meticulous and thorough investigation of integrity, and despite today’s wrongful termination, and great harm and defamation this case has inflicted on him and his family, Proctor still believes justice will be served,” the family added. "

His attorney said he'd appeal, and I agree, he'll cooperate even if he has close to zero shot of prevailing. And it's not just the Read case; he was an investigator on a number of other serious cases, some of which might be in jeopardy now. Even if he didn't plant evidence to make his work easier in other cases, you can bet defense attorneys can't wait to look into Mr. Proctor's work habits.

I gotta say, his wife and sister have to be the most tone deaf people I've heard in a long time. Supporting a family member is one thing. Making him out to be the victim here is quite another.

The backdoor phishing by Hank for alleged consciousness of guilt communication by KR with AK (TB) was so disgraceful -- starting with the late night, Motions hearing request (under KR case number) to Hank misrepresenting to the Court that he previously stated witness intimidation allegations would not be part of the CW's case in chief! Nonetheless, appears the subject Motion was Hank's brain-child resulting from episode one of the ID channel documentary.

MSM headlines can be misleading -- COG phone evidence will be limited to TB's identified criminal charges and/or phone data evidence (ALLOWED IN PART) from the period April 2023 to October 2023:

Apology for messing up your quote.

So far the district attorney has sent letters to 13 criminal defense lawyers whose clients were investigated by proctor and more are expected to follow.
Some are pretty big Massachusetts cases that were put on the screen by the reporter.

imo:
A mini Annie Dookhan, the MA drug technician comes to mind.

The letter is in the link.

It's mind boggling all the tax payer's dollars Proctor has caused to be paid out to combat what he has done, due to his unbelievable negligence, bias, ignorance.

Indeed and is it possible that his cell/text messages could be subpoenaed looking for other texts from his prior cases that are now being examined?

IMO:
And arrogance with a capital "A"

"The trooper referred to that comment as as "unprofessional" and not something he's proud of, but added, "these juvenile unprofessional comments have zero impact on the facts and the evidence and the integrity of this investigation."

Read them again and weep Michael.

I wonder if the MSP already went through his phone. Would they be obligated to report if they found anything else? I imagine they'd want to keep that private, considering how many cases he was involved in.

Some media has claimed he was suspended with no pay, while others, like this article, say he was on paid suspension. Now that he's gone-gone-gone, he won't be on the payroll any longer.

The suspension you referenced was from July 2024 as was the article.

Stay tuned because these convicted cases he previously investigated ain't going away and I doubt media updates on the cases aren't going away either.
IIRC:
Since he's not been criminally convicted of anything he still gets his pension.

Pretty sure he didn't have enough time in to be vested.
IIRC;
12 years when he testified.

After Proctor was fired Wednesday, his attorney Daniel J. Moynihan said they would be appealing the decision and that Proctor had never been disciplined before this incident during his 12 years of service.2 days ago

State trooper Michael Proctor fired, under scrutiny in Karen ...

Both obtaining the alleged witness intimidation texts and recordings from TB's phone between April and October 2023 and seeking KR's communication with Attorney David Yannetti is not the equivalent of admitting this information as evidence at her trial.

I'm hoping that case law will prevail here where the grand jury previously rejected the idea that there was probable cause to indict KR with witness intimidation and that her communication with David Yannetti is protected by client attorney privilege. JMO
