CNN online article date August 11, 2024 by Alaa Elassar and Amanda Musa entitled ‘A Massachusetts man wanted for rapes 35 years ago is arrested following a Los Angeles police chase’:
The individual Stephen Paul Gale was arrested in Los Angeles on Thursday, August 8, 2024.

IIUC Massachusetts apparently does not have a statute of limitations for rape and other forms of sexual assault. This article by a Massachusetts attorney, Paul Toland, elaborates on this and the topic of statute of limitations for certain crimes in that state:

The CNN article also refers to aliases this individual is alleged to have used: Stephen Pisarcik, John Rossi, and Paul Costa. DNA genetic genealogy was used to make the apparent link. MOO

'WOBURN, Mass. —
Testimony resumed Tuesday in the trial of Stephen Paul Gale, the man charged with raping two women at a Framingham clothing store in 1989.'

''Los Angeles police said after his arrest, Gale said he would return to Massachusetts and plead guilty, adding he did not want to lie to a judge and jury because he had already caused so much damage to people. However, in a separate statement, police said Gale told them he is not a rapist.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the judge ruled that jurors will not hear about those statements unless Gale takes the stand and testifies.

“There's some ambiguity with what he's talking about, what he would lie about to a jury. I think there are some real prejudicial concerns about his right not to testify,” Middlesex Superior Court Judge Patrick Haggan said.''
