Malaysian authorities have issued an arrest warrant for Clare Rewcastle Brown, editor of Sarawak Report and sister-in-law to former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown. She has been accused of trying to 'topple' Malaysia Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, but Clare says it's because she wrote an investigative article on the whereabouts of millions of dollars that seem to have gone missing from under the Prime Minister's nose.

The warrant was issued under the penal code which covers activities 'detrimental to parliamentary democracy' and carries a sentence of up to 20 years. Malaysia wants her put on the Interpol list.

Clare herself is in England at the moment and has replied to the news of the arrest warrant and threat to extradite her in the Malaysian Insider:

ETA: It hasn't gone missing, it was found in the PM's accounts!

Founder and editor of whistleblower website Sarawak Report (SR) Clare Rewcastle-Brown has questioned Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s failure to explain from the very beginning that the RM2.6 billion found in his accounts had come from “donors” and not from 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) as previously suspected.

Sorry, I am struggling to convert to dollars or pounds sterling as they are such huge numbers! There are nearly 4 (3.84) Malaysian Ringgit to a dollar though, so the amounts in question are many millions of dollars.

So does the Malaysian Prime Minister not get a salary. Just has to survive on donations instead?

Odd. Mind you, he seems to have done well under the system. Clare's brother in England only earned around £150,000 (about $234,000) a year as PM.
