There is more to the story, further down the article, after reading the magpie expert's take on what was actually happening.

I know magpies are intelligent and I could imagine the story they might tell their children about the time they talked to the "strange bird" :D

Years ago on a trip to OZ, we enjoyed hearing the kookaburras. Quite a funny racket.

You come up w so many day brighteners.

I love magpies, always have and the strange thing is where ever I move there is a magpie family living next to my house. They are the most entertaining species.

I love Kookaburra's too. I live in a country town and we don't hear them as often as we once used to.
