46 year-old Mark Pritchard has been jailed for over eight years for dressing in a black theatre suit and rabbit's head, carrying roses and love letters, and then trying to stab his love rival.
Pritchard was so convincing he managed to persuade the victim to lay blindfolded on a bed, before attacking him - first with chloroform and then stabbing him three times.
The judge said if he hadn't pleaded guilty, the sentence would have been much longer.
