NEW YORK (AP) — A 69-year-old Brooklyn man was arrested on attempted murder charges after he allegedly hurled a bowling ball from his 17th-floor apartment, nearly hitting three police officers below.
Douglas Stiff lobbed the ball off the balcony of his apartment on Christopher Street in the East New York section at about 10 p.m. Monday, police said. It hit the ground to the right of a parole officer and two police officers who were walking on the street below.

Stiff was arrested on charges of attempted murder, reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon, police said.
