ps....He doesnt dress up like that all the time....only on special occassions.

I always dressed up my dog too for special occasions, drove my dad nuts

For Christmas he also had his piccy taken with Santa at the local pet store :blushing:
He was the perfect poser for the pics as he would get serious and turn his head slightly

His outfits never lasted long though, Coco always took his anger out on it from me dressing him up and he would tear them apart when he got the chance. Man I miss my doggy I loved him so much....

Removal of lambs tails is imperative to their survival unlike puppies tails.
Fly strike in sheep is not a thing that any animal should have to suffer and I believe it was Pink who toured here recently that had to do a big backdown and offer up apologies to the Aussie farmers after she spoke about the cruelty of docking lambs tails when she hadnt done her research first.

I know lambs tails were removed for a reason. I just wondered if the people who made the laws made a distinction.

We do a lot of things that cause pain to animals.....castration, neutering, dehorning, declawing of cats, I don't find docking pups tails to be a big deal as I have seen first hand that it isn't all that traumatic if done right and at the right age...not any more so than many other minor medical procedures.

Now ear bobbing on the other hand. I think that causes a lot more trauma and suffering and would never have that done to a dog again. I cringe when I see many pit bulls in the US with their ears cut so short....and when I was told that declawing a cat was the same as amputating your fingers to the first joint...I would never do that to an animal either.

I just like to dress Jake because its a bit of fun and we email his pics out as crissy cards/easter cards to our friends and family....the little ones get a kick out of it ...I wouldnt dare take Jake to a store to get his pic done.....he tends to cause havoc out in public:doh: .

Hi Maybe So.....the destinction is that the lambs need to be done for survival whereas the puppies are only done for cosmetic reasons.
Ive never seen a dog with cropped ears here so maybe that is illegal aswell...Im not sure....I dont like the sound of cat declawing either..there was a disscussion in the pet forum regarding this and one poster mentioned that you could buy cat boots to solve the cat claw problem.
Ive owned labs all of my life so Im not really an expert on the tail docking surgery..you on the other hand have watched the operation and the outcome so Ill take your word that the docking is relatively painless..

I bet they are cute cards, he is adorable My Coco was a samoyed but I also had beagles, bunnies and fish growing up. My husband isn't into animals much so it makes it kind of difficult since my daughter doesn't have one to grow up with. She does love her fish and snails but I hope to get something soon that she can pet and take care of.

We used to have a chow mix who had one ear that stood straight up and the other always flopped. People suggested we get her ears fixed, but she was so adorable that way, and IMO cosmetic surgery for animals is ridiculous.

For the record, I am a huge advocate for neutering and spaying pets... and I don't have issues with animals that have to be cropped or docked, in the name of keeping them healthy... like sheep and all. It's a given, some operations actually benefit animal. It's the cosmetic stuff that I don't get.

Several years ago, I rescued a doberman that hadn't been socialized. I decided to send him to the local doggy daycare a few days a week. While there I noticed a Great Dane walking around with the most BIZARRLY HUGE set of testes I had ever seen. I mentioned it to the owner as I thought the dog could have been suffering some sort of weird sickness or something. She laughed and assured me he was fine, his owner, a man, decided to get him implants after his neutering and picked the largest set they made. I swear, they looked liked tennis balls! I often wonder what type of man would do that.....and hope I never cross paths with em.

Spay/Neuter are much different than this. What you described is only for looks, never has one thing to do with health!
