Man tries to suck victim's blood

AN apparently mentally deranged man attacked and killed a passer-by on a French street with a knife then tried to suck the victim's blood, police said today.
The incident occurred late last night near the university in the western Paris suburb of Nanterre.
The 23 year-old attacker struck his victim, another man, on the head and was about to suck the blood from his wounds, when another passer-by ripped a receiver from a nearby telephone booth and hit him.
The attacker escaped, but police later caught him and he was admitted to hospital with injuries.
Police said they had later recovered written material from the attacker's apartment apparently indicating an interest in cannibalism.
