Gina Carano fired from The Mandalorian after 'abhorrent' social media posts

"Gina Carano will not be returning to the Disney+ television series The Mandalorian, after Lucasfilm announced there were “no plans” for the actor to come back after her “abhorrent and unacceptable” posts on social media."

"Carano, who played the bounty hunter Cara Dune in both seasons of the Star Wars spin-off, wrote in a post on Instagram that is no longer available:

“Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbours … even by children … Because history is edited, most people today don’t realise that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbours hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views.”

"In a statement, Lucasfilm said: “Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”

The statement followed a longstanding campaign for the 38-year-old actor to be fired from the show, using #FireGinaCarano. The actor has also been let go from her agency, UTA.

Carano, is also accused of mocking people who state their preferred pronouns online, by placing the words “beep/bop/boop” on her Twitter profile, shared others conspiracy theory posts about the November election, and questioned mask effectiveness in preventing the spread of Covid.

People just don't understand Twitter audiences are huge and tweets are FOREVER. If I say certain things among friends, nobody cares. If I write them for all to see and never be deleted, my boss will most likely ask HR to speak with me off the record.
Just for reference: we had someone write on LinkedIn about sheep and the nonsense of facemasks. They too received an email from HR. Had they continued, I'm sure it would have been seen as disrespect and disciplinary actions would be taken. Not because they are not allowed to think social distancers are sheep, but because they made the company look bad and did not do anything with the feedback given.

That depends. Because they fired her? Mr. Disney "supposedly" was racist, sexist, and antisemitic. That depends on who is interviewed, but at least one family member has agreed.

That aside I'm glad this woman got a new position. I thought that was it for her.

But I can still enjoy their work and music etc. I can separate them. I don't know why others can't do the same. That's what they should have done but didn't and seeing tweets from other people involved with Disney, it makes them look like complete hypocrites in some people's eyes.

There was a producer who had made a tweet about sticking MAGA kids in a wood chipper after the DC Indigenous People's parade incident but he deleted it and apologized after getting called out for the stupidity of it and Pedro Pascal has made a few different tweets comparing America and Trump supporters to Nazi Germany and Nazis.

It seems their line of thinking is fall in line with the way we think or you don't have a job

The comparison she makes is crass, but I have to ask - would she have been fired if she'd compared Trump supporters to the Nazis, or Trump to Hitler?
