Didn't Marie have problems early on with eating disorders? Much better IMO that she's put on some weight than to have starved herself to be thin. I know she lost her mother some years back and I think that was very hard on her.
It must be tough to always be held up to what you looked like 30 years ago, I seriously doubt any one of us could stand up to that kind of comparison, skin, hair, size, everything changes and no one who is 47 is going to look 17 no matter what they do.
Whenever I hear someone cutting down another about how they look I just figure that person has issues they're not happy with about themselves and it makes them feel better pointing to anothers flaws.

Either way if a person is thin they are ridiculed and if they are heavy they are ridculed. Sadly, it's a no win situation.

Marie is not very tall, and an extra few pounds can really look like alot more on a small-statured person, especially on TV! I eat comfort food when I am stressed, which is better than drinking or drugging but still, I wanna kick myself for gaining a few pounds 'cause I can't stand feeling heavy and then I just have to do the work to get back to normal!

It is really hard to take care of yourself when you are depressed and your marraige seems unbearable. When divorce violates your moral beliefs and the marraige is toxic...yeah, I could see myself campin' out a the local burrito drive-thru!
