Mark Geragos: Celebrity Attorney Named as Alleged Co-Conspirator

Mark Geragos is a celebrity attorney known for his representation of Jussie Smollett, among other high profile clients. He has been identified by The Wall Street Journal as the alleged co-conspirator in the case against Michael Avenatti.

Avenatti was indicted on Monday, for charges of wire and bank fraud in relation to an alleged extortion attempt against Nike. The Wall Street Journal is now reporting that CC-1, who is named throughout Avenatti’s indictment papers, is Geragos. Geragos has not yet been charged in relation to the alleged extortion scheme.

Mr. Geragos didn’t respond to phone calls or an email seeking comment. Mr. Berman declined to say why Mr. Geragos had not been arrested. He said the investigation was continuing.

Mr. Geragos could no immediately be reached for comment.

On Tuesday, the network announced it was parting ways with the longtime legal contributor.

“God forbid that I start telling some of the stories for how I’ve covered for that lame-ass organization,” Geragos railed on “The Adam Carolla Show” on Tuesday.
