Mass shooting leaves at least 9 injured in downtown Cincinnati

Two more people were shot in a separate incident in the city's Cincinnati’s Central Business District, police said.

At least 9 people were injured in a mass shooting in downtown Cincinnati in the early hours of Sunday morning, police said.



None of the victims were “in critical condition and most of those injuries are lower extremity injuries,” he said.



Based on preliminary information, the suspect was wearing a white shirt, dark pants, John said. He added the investigators were canvassing the scene and looking for witnesses. Camera footage would also be reviewed, he said.

Just to give an idea of how large the country is, I live in the same state where this happened, but the city, Cincinnati, is about 3-4 hours from me. Many states are comparable or even bigger. It probably does average out to close to one a day, but we have a loootttt of people to potentially go off their rocker. (NOT that that makes it ok of course.)

This. All through the 90s somebody shooting up people's legs at a bar was something that happened about once a year in my small city with sub-100k population and it only ever made local news, maybe regional but not even statewide. The difference now is the reporting - and unfortunately the nationwide reporting of these type "mass shootings" inspires actual domestic terrorists/psycho spree killers.

The first barrage of bullets includes a shot fired by Cincinnati police officer Joe Shook, who's hit a suspect named Diablo McCoats in the leg. [snip] Around six seconds after Deters said McCoats opened fire, he said the video shows a second suspect, Jarvis Barnes, spraying bullets through the air. Deters said the shooting was the result of some kind of turf far between two groups of people, one from the West Side and a group from Downtown. [snip] CPD officials said six shots came from an unidentified shooter. The third shooter has not been identified at this time.
