This is a parental kidnapping case from Europe.

Matilda Mary Michelle Blomgren was 6 years old when she went missing on the 5th of May in 2013. She was born in 25/09/2006 to parents Elena Blomgren (pre-marital: Skobelina) and Magnus Blomgren.

In May 2013 Matilda went on a Stockholm-Tallinn (Sweden-Estonia) cruise with her mother and was supposed to return on the 5th of May, but neither of them have been seen since.

She went missing with her mother, who was born on 09/08/1981 in Herson, Ukraine. She is 174 cm tall and according to the news has citizenships in Estonia and Sweden. From what I can gather, she is probably a Russian-speaker instead and as dual citizenship is not allowed in neither of the countries depending on the exact timeframe of the events and she does not have them since birth... so the situation with her documents feels unsure to me. That being said, she is usually listed as having both Swedish and Estonian citizenships.

The situation with Matilda's custody is equally unclear to me. I have seen nothing to clearly indicate that the mother did not have custody of the child at that moment. A news article states "Matilda's father Magnus Blomgren and her mother Elena Blomgren were at the time in a custody dispute, and that is why Matilda's grandparents had been given the task of picking her up and dropping her off when she would spend time with her mother, whom she saw every other weekend."

There is very little information about the case. Neither Swedish nor Estonian police have found the pair so far and early on the Swedish part of the family suspected that the mother and daughter might have moved to Russia or Ukraine...

well, Kherson for one has been mostly bombed down in the war. Which is why I am posting such an old case: we have no insight into the family dynamics and background as to why such a situation happened (a lot of accusations from all sides, though). However, Matilda will be turning 18 this year and no-one can tell her where she has to live - neither the mum nor the dad. If she is alive, she could consider letting her Swedish family know that she is ok - due to everything that's going on they must be very scared about her life and well-being, not to mention having lost more than 10 years with her.
