On January 14, 2016, a person or person approached the Uthers St home (near 18 Mile and Hayes if you're local) and assaulted Jim McKeogh who was in the garage of the home. He'd recently finished clearing snow from the walk and drive. After beating Jim savagely, the killer entered the home and attacked tiny Christy McKeogh. Christy tried to run out the front door of the home, she didn't make it.
On Friday 1-15-16. Christy didn't show up for work, she wasn't answering her phone either. Christy works with her family at Accu-Tech manufacturing in Shelby Twp. Her brothers, concerned about her absence and that they could not reach her, went to the house where they discovered the bodies.
The house was perhaps 50 yards from a strip mall with cameras pointed in the "right" direction to help the investigation. Sadly, those cameras were set to "view" rather than record. They were useless.
It is my understanding (from working with the McKeogh and Rahal families as well as CTPD) that the only item stolen from the home was Christy's cell phone. Police were able to get records from the phone with a subpeona, this allowed them to narrow down time of death.
in the 5+ years since the murders, there have been several tips and leads called in to CTPD, but right now, the case is stalled. They need more information to keep things moving. It is my understanding that the family and neighbors were cleared and are not suspects in the case.
The Rahal (Christy's family) brothers put up a $50k reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for this senseless murder.
A couple of points:
I also created a couple of reward posters/fliers on the case, one of which I will attach here.

A couple of points:
- Major overkill. Both victims were savagely beaten with an unknown object.
- No theft. Nothing appears to have been taken except Christy's phone. Plenty of valuables in plain sight in the very tidy house.
- Did they know the killer? The person was able to walk up the driveway in full view of Jim without Jim raising the alarm.
