Charging documents against two Mardela Springs women show a pattern of abuse against three children, including forcing one of them to eat dog feces.

One of the children, age 8, told police his mother threatened “to cut their throats and bury them in the backyard” if he told anyone of their “business,” police stated in the report.

Amanda Rachelle Wright, 29, the mother of the children, and her live-in girlfriend, Besline Joseph, 25, were arrested Wednesday and charged with multiple counts of child abuse, assault, neglect of a minor, false imprisonment and stalking, according to documents filed in District Court.

Both women were being held without bond on Thursday afternoon, according to Maryland online court records.

I was horrified when I heard about this, especially since this happened just a few miles from where I live. I drove by the house this morning and all I could see were two women with a tripod taking pictures of the house. No police activity. So glad these children were rescued!

"Police said Joseph and Wright were beating the children since last summer. The couple would allegedly beat the children with their bare hands, extension cords, belts and sticks.

The children were so badly beaten they suffered bloody noses, cuts and bruises, police said. But the alleged assaults didn’t stop there. Wright and Joseph would also injure the children with a stun gun, officials said.

The children were also allegedly forced to eat dog feces, and the only other items they received were bread, water and oatmeal. They were also reportedly locked in closets or the house’s basement.

The couple instilled fear in the children by threatening to kill them if they told anyone about the alleged abuse, FOX45 reported."

"On Friday, Maryland State Police at the Salisbury Barrack got information on allegations of child abuse involving the suspects.

The Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division immediately started an*investigation, in cooperation with Child Protective Services personnel assigned to the Wicomico Child Advocacy Center, police said.

Based on the allegations, Child Protective Services officials removed the three children from the home the night the investigation began and have asked state police not to release additional details that may identify the children."

"Court documents obtained from WBOC say the children were locked in the living room closet for approximately four months in the summer of 2017 and they were only let out to eliminate themselves.

The documents go on to say "if the children got loud in the closet, Joseph, would make them come out and perform squatting exercises with books in their hands."

"The women are being held until their bond hearing. Their preliminary hearing is set for March 1st."

Sentenced in Oct 2021.

A Wicomico County Circuit Court judge on Wednesday sentenced Besline Joseph, 25, to 39 years behind bars with all but 24 years suspended.

Wright on Monday pleaded guilty to three counts of second-degree child abuse and was also sentenced to 39 years in prison with all but 24 years suspended.
