Prosecutor accuses Baltimore police officer of hiding teenage stepson’s body in hole in loft of Anne Arundel County home

A prosecutor on Thursday accused a Baltimore police officer of hiding the body of his teenage stepson in his Anne Arundel County home and charging documents described the officer as telling police searching for the boy that a hole in a wall in the home’s loft was his “gun safe.”

The 15-year-old boy was identified as Dasan Jones, according to charging documents for the officer. A neighbor remembered Dasan, whom she called “D.J.,” watching over his younger siblings and her children when they played together in their Curtis Bay neighborhood near the mouth of Cox Creek. A magnet student at Glen Burnie High School and an accomplished violin player, Dasan was described by those who knew him as quiet and kind.

Following. Sounds like Dasan was a good kid. WTH was his dad thinking? SMH.
Thanks, Joe, for the thread.

"Banks consented to a search of the house, which ended in the loft, where police found the boy’s body in a “hole in the wall with a white cover leaning on it,” charging documents say. Banks had told the officers the area was his gun safe."

Was the boy still alive when LE found him?
Maybe? Per this, from a caption (pic # 1/8 showing row of townhouses) in story.
"...police discovered an responsive 15-year-old boy involved in a custody dispute early Wednesday morning." bbm
A typo? Did they intend to write unresponsive?

Regardless, sad, sad, sad. RIP Dasan.

Stepdad, I think, not dad—which raises the question of why Dasan would’ve been living there with EB but without his mother).

Oh wait…sounds like DJ’s mom moved out (or was not consistently at the home) due to alleged domestic abuse. She filed for an order of protection the same day DJ was found murdered.

Baltimore officer charged with murder after stepson's body is found hidden in crawlspace

A Baltimore police officer has been charged with murder in the death of his 15-year-old stepson, whose body was found hidden in an attic crawlspace.

Eric Banks Jr., 34, was initially arrested on charges of assault on a police officer and trying to disarm an officer, Anne Arundel County authorities said Wednesday during a morning news conference. Charges of first- and second-degree murder, as well as child abuse resulting in death, were added later, according to online court records filed Tuesday.

He is being held without bond.
The murder charges relate to the death of Dasan Jones, Banks' stepson.

The teen's body was found last week during a search of Banks' Anne Arundel County home after Jones' mother contacted police and said she could not reach her son by phone. The mother, who is married to Banks, told police that she believed her son was being held against his will, according to NBC affiliate WBAL of Baltimore, citing charging documents.

Authorities said Wednesday that officers went to Banks' home and questioned him. Banks told police that Jones had left and did not bring any of his belongings with him, according to Anne Arundel police.

Officers checked the home and found Jones in a crawlspace in an upstairs attic, police said. Bloody clothes were also found hidden in a dresser drawer.
