According to the United States Census Bureau, the place has a total area of 1.3 square miles (3.4 km2), of which 1.0 square mile (2.6 km2) is land and 0.3 square miles (0.78 km2) (25.56%) is water.

Approximately 8 miles NorthWest of Washington, DC. Inclusive of C&O canal, Potomac River, and DC area thoroughfares.

I used to live in the area and frequently went to Scotts Run to walk and during the spring and summer months, there were always people fishing from the banks of the Maryland side of the river. Even during the winter, people walk and bike along the C&O Canal (although not nearly as many as during the summer). I wish we had more information about the cause of death, because it's entirely possible he was walking along the C&O canal and had some kind of medical emergency and was unable to call for help. Not sure what it was like in the 1970s, but occasionally homeless people pitch tents in the woods there (though it seems most of them move elsewhere during the winter months).

Can't find any results for the specific shirt he had on but this one appears to be from the same brand.
