GERMANTOWN, Md. - Montgomery County Police are investigating human remains found in the woods near the 12,600 block of Great Seneca Highway in Germantown.
Monday evening, a nearby resident was walking in the field when he came across what he believed to be human bones. Officers then searched the area and collected the remains as evidence. Police say the remains were not concealed or in any type of grave. An autopsy will be completed by the medical examiners in Baltimore - to identify the remains and determine the cause of death.

There were no obvious signs of trauma to the remains. Police are conducting a death investigation and sent the remains to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the cause and manner of death.
