Greenbelt Police are asking for the public’s help in finding 12-year-old Kidist Gianna Jayla Smith. She goes by Jayla.

The girl was last seen Monday at 11:30 a.m. when she left the Greenbelt Community Center. She was seen running down a sidewalk on Southway Road towards Greenbelt Road a short time later, police said.


Jayla is 5’2” tall and weighs 83 pounds. She has brown eyes and shoulder-length black hair in dreadlocks. Her hair is pulled up on the top of her head.

Jayla was last seen wearing a neon green jacket and greenish blue capri-length leggings.

Police in Greenbelt, Maryland, are searching for a 12-year-old girl who ran away from a community center and was spotted at the Minnesota Avenue Metro station -- before disappearing again.
Kidist Gianna Jayla Smith was seen leaving the Greenbelt Community Center at 11:30 a.m. Monday. A short time later, she was seen running down the sidewalk on Southway Road toward Greenbelt Road.
She boarded a Metrobus and was later seen exiting the Minnesota Avenue Metro station in Northeast D.C., News4's Tracee Wilkins reported.
No one has reported sigtings since, and her parents, Kamla and Tobin Smith, say their daughter has no known connections to the area.
