Acadia National Park Rangers, Game Wardens searching for missing person

...UPDATE 7:30 PM -- Acadia Park Rangers have confirmed they are looking for 50 year old Timothy Philpott of Ellsworth today. He has not been seen since Tuesday. Philpott is described as 5 feet 9 - 150 pounds. He was wearing a black jacket and had on Nylon pants.

Rangers did a search yesterday and stepped up the search today involving the Maine warden service and the Forest Service chopper and some other search and rescue agencies. Conditions on the trails can be tough to navigate this time of year especially with the snow and ice.

"The risk of falling especially in conditions where we have a lot of snow, and ice. A lot of the area that we're searching is exposed to the wind so, snow that may have fallen has pretty much turned to ice by now. And hiking in Acadia is always a challenge given its slopes and the terrain" said Kelly.

Authorities said Tim Philpott is 50-years old, is 5-foot-9 and weighs about 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing brown pants and a black nylon jacket.
