The cats didn't have an active role in the fugitive's capture as I thought when I read the headline, but it is bizarre.
The man gained access to a home by telling the woman that he was mowing the lawn next door and needed a drink of water. This is what made the woman and her husband suspicious:

The story would have been more interesting if the cats had dialed 911.
