MI - Attempted parking lot murder caught on camera, Sterling Heights, 28 Nov 2020 *arrest in 2022*

I have to give the intended victim a lot of credit. As soon as she realized what was happening she got that car in drive and took off. She didn't panic. She didn't freeze. She got moving and got outta there!

It was also smart on her part to avoid a car chase by trying to outrun the shooter. Going back home, driving through the yard and right up to the porch was also good. Then she got back in the house as quickly as possible.

She saved her life by quick thinking and decisive action.

wow! no news about arrest?

Evidently not. I just did a search and found no updates. However I did find this article on nearby Detroit.

Detroit Leads Nation In Violent Crime Per New Fbi Report

"Detroit found itself at the top of the FBI's annual list of America's most dangerous cities in 2019, while Sterling Heights once again was among the country's safest.

While the violent crime rate in Detroit fell in 2019 from 2018, it was still the highest among major cities. The city reported 13,040 murders, rapes, robberies, and assaults last year, down from 13,478 in 2018."

It looks like there were at least four co-conspirators in a convoluted plot to kill the victim. So far only Andre Sims has been named. The victim has also not been named.

Officials break down how group plotted to kill Sterling Heights woman in failed murder-for-hire

posted on March 17, 2022

"Officials provided a moment-by-moment breakdown of how they say two people carried out a failed murder-for-hire scheme targeting a Sterling Heights woman.

Federal officials named Andre D. Sims in an indictment filed Wednesday (March 16) in Flint. They said he was offered $10,000 by someone identified only as a “co-conspirator” to kill a Sterling Heights woman.

The attempted murder took place at 11:18 a.m. Nov. 28, 2020, outside a home at the Park Place Condominiums near Metro Parkway and Dequindre Road in Sterling Heights."

Police said the woman was shot multiple times and taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The indictment also references four other people, naming them “individual 1,” “individual 2,” “individual 3″ and “individual 4.”

When I saw the video clips of this shooting on Channel 4, I thought the area looked familiar. That is a newer section of Park Place Condominiums where my widowed mom (now deceased) lived for more than 30 years. She was one of the original owners in the development. One of my brothers was here for dinner last week and hadn't seen the report, so I asked him to watch the video without prefacing that it was Park Place. He recognized the location, as well. I'm glad the woman wasn't hurt and that a suspect is in custody.

Tho I’m glad of course, it’s obvious that this didn’t go as smooth and easy as the shooter must have thought it was going to with the way he has to chase the car on foot and shooting so many times.

That police timeline that @MajorHoople posted above tells a lot, but to hide the other names. I hope there is an honest, investigative reason for that but I’m always skeptical when LE does stuff like this.

It’s obvious too that these perps aren’t often on WS or watching true crime since cops have been tracking phone info for decades now but they didn’t seem to mind, openly texting about the crime and the whopping 300 bucks that this guy will likely serve a long sentence for.

Sadly Andre D. Sims is also suspected of murdering a 65 year old woman in Grand Rapids. Sandra Kay Carter was shot and killed in her home in 2021.

"Police have arrested a suspect in the Jan. 3 shooting death of a 65-year-old Grand Rapids woman.

Andre Dimetre Sims, 23, is charged with open murder in the killing of Sandra Kay Carter. She was shot and killed around 11:45 p.m. at her two-family home on Alpine Avenue NW, just north of Leonard Street.

Police said Sims was looking for the victim’s grandson, who was with him earlier that day, when the shooting occurred, court records showed."

Gunman was looking for woman’s grandson when he shot her at front door, police say

Sandra Kay Carter, age 65
