DEARBORN (WWJ) - Police in Dearborn are asking for help identifying a man who was found dead in a wooded area along the railroad.

The remains were discovered Tuesday by CSX Transportation workers near the train tracks at Michigan Avenue and Miller Road, just west of I-94.

Based on preliminary findings, medical examiners believe that foul play was not involved. However, investigators have not been able to identify the individual.

Police say the individual appears to be an older white male, wearing tan pants, a tan Carhartt style jacket, an orange knit cap and boots. It also appears that he was possibly homeless at the time of his death.

Investigators are asking for tips from the public while they collaborate with regional partners and searching missing person databases.

"It is imperative that we identify this subject so that family members can be notified and a full investigation completed," Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad said in a statement.

Anyone who may have information is asked to contact police at 313-943-2241.

So the namus profile says that the estimated age range is pre 40, but they refer to him as an older gentleman. But the range also says 34 - 86, so I'm a little confused by that. I guess if he had been homeless he may have looked older than he really is if life had been hard? Am I just missing something and talking myself in circles?

I assume the best they could determine is he's between 34 - 86 years old, so the "pre-40" had to be used to meet the bottom of that range.

I wonder if it's unusual that they have near complete skeletal remains yet can't estimate height or a narrower age range. It makes me think a final review hasn't been finished but IDK.

May I say I feel sorry for this man dying like this and hope he is identified and his family can give him a nice burial. He didn't even have the luxury of matching boots at the end of his life. :(

Identifinders International is pleased to have assisted the Dearborn Police Department with the identification of "Dennis Doe" as Biaggio "Bennie" Alestra, a known transient in the area.
