The article states that the house where the skeleton was found was built in 1922 or 1923. It was owned by Mr. and Mrs. Albert Shelton since 1943, and before them by Mr. and Mrs. Walter S. Rood for 5 years.

The body had been in the ground before 1943, possibly placed there in about 1940. A skull was found and there was a hole in the top of it and the jaw was shattered There were other bones as well, but no ribs according to the article.

It was thought by investigators (in 1959) that this Jane Doe might have been the victim of two convicted killers; John Kasap and John Kurzawa (both serving life sentences in 1959), possibly assisted by a Leo Silpek. The killers were responsible for the following known 1940 murder victims:

Philip G. Loyst, 24 (1940) whose body was found buried in the basement of a house at 2115 McLean, only a block from where Jane Doe was later found.
Dorsey E. Bowman
Edward H. Briede, a shopkeeper

   John Kasap 22, a taxi Driver joined John Kurzawa 21, in acknowledging responsibility for the murder of Philip Loyst. 2-1, and of Dorsey e. Bowman 35. Loyst returned a profit of $320. Bowman $385. Loyst s grave was prepared in Pic cellar of Murcar House even before he had been selected As a victim. Another grave was prepared beside his but its prospective tenant felt a strange intuitive warning and evaded it.
