Distinguishing Marks/Features: Slender build. Inferior portion of the metopic suture (on the skull) with mid-frontal complication is present. Should be visible if antemortem radiographs are located. Red toenail polish.

Dentals: She was missing her right front tooth. Had Poor oral hygiene in life. Missing her right maxillary central incisor, which would have been apparent in life and very noticeable.
Fingerprints: DPD was able to lift some prints.

Circumstances of Discovery​

The victim was found in a vacant building at 2646 Harding Street in Detroit on June 5th, 2006. She is a suspected victim of serial killer Shelley Brooks who murdered women from 2001 and 2006 on the Detroit's east side. Now serving two life sentences, Shelley Brooks has confessed to her murder. She was a known prostitute on the east side of Detroit around the Indian Village area.

The woman’s body was discovered on June 5, 2006, in a vacant building on Harding Street in Detroit. Police believe she had been dead for seven days.

She was estimated to be between 20 and 30 years old. The Doe Network said she was missing her right front tooth, had poor oral hygiene, and was missing her right maxillary central incisor. Detroit police were able to lift some fingerprints.

She was wearing a red shirt, “No Excuses” blue jeans (size 9-10), a white bra, a winter weight short jacket with navy/white trim with nautical flags on it, and Nike sneakers.

Shelly Andre Brooks was initially charged with seven counts of premeditated murder and seven counts of felony murder, according to NBC News. Brooks was taken into custody on July 30, 2006, after being accused of sexually assaulting a sex worker.''

According to the family member Mrs. Scott was involved in survival sex work and crack cocaine and may have been trafficked after her disappearance. Hereis some more info on her and her disappearance.

It is noted that Mrs Scott is Native American (Chippewa) but based on her picture may be mistaken for black.

The age estimate was way off. She was 47. Was she homeless? Her clothing seems to be charity shop stuff.

Authorities said in a news release on January 6 that the woman was identified as Washington through DNA testing after the Detroit Police Department reached out to Othram, a forensic genetic genealogy company, in 2022. The company specializes in advanced DNA technology

When Washington’s remains were first discovered at the abandoned house on the east side of Detroit, it was determined that she was a Black female between the ages of 20 and 30 years and that she was about five feet tall. But no other identifying characteristics could be determined.

Washington’s death was ruled a homicide and authorities said it was believed she was a victim of Detroit-area serial killer Shelly Brooks, who allegedly confessed to the murder, according to the release.
