Prosecutors say 22-year old Antonio Brandon abused his two-month-old twin sons-killing one and injuring the other. Investigators say the boys had been abused for about a week.

Their mother, 18-year old Nicole Roberts, is accused of allowing the abuse to go on because she didn't want her boyfriend to leave her.

If convicted of the murder charges, Brandon and Roberts face mandatory life in prison without the possibility of parole. Brandon’s child abuse charge carries a 15-year penalty and Roberts’ child abuse charge, a 4-year penalty.

Bond $1 million cash each for Brandon and Roberts and scheduled a preliminary examination for Dec. 15. Both parents were being held in the Wayne County Jail.

The father admitted Monday that he had "placed his hand over the dead baby's mouth for 10 to 20 seconds. He also admitted that he squeezed Kayden's body tightly to his and also beat on his chest all in an effort to stop the baby from crying.''
