Found Deceased MI- Larry Waldschmidt, 78, Cass County, 27 March 2019

The Cass County Sheriff’s Department is looking for a missing man with Alzheimer’s. It says 78-year-old Larry Waldschmidt was reported missing from the 2,400 block of Jefferson Street in Dowagiac by a family member around 6 p.m. Wednesday. He was last seen working in the yard around 5:30 p.m. and police say it appears he got into the family vehicle and drove off. In addition to having Alzheimer’s, Waldschmidt has a critical need for insulin. He left without his medications, identification, and money. He was driving a 2002 white Ford Escape with a Michigan handicap registration of H-1499. He was wearing gray sweat pants and a gray sweat shirt with black tennis shoes. A Silver Alert has been issued. Anyone with information on Waldschmidt’s location is asked to contact police.

Exactly three weeks later, Cass County Sheriff Richard J. Behnke announced that the body of the endangered missing man had been found in Cass County's Penn Township.
