Oh no. We have lost so many fine officers in the last couple of years. All over the country, it has seemed like open season on LE. I remember when my mom was still on the force and I was a kid, I would just freeze when any reports of an officer down came on the news. I couldn't breathe until I heard who it was. My dad was a firefighter, so I was always worried about him getting killed too. I feel so very bad for the officer's family. It sounds like the others will be okay, so that is a blessing.

My deepest sympathies to All of the Law Enforcement Community.

There are no words for such a senseless tragedy.

From May 2011:

http://www.mlive.com/news/detroit/index.ssf/2011/05/james_gibson_sentences_to_life.html

A man who fatally shot a Detroit police officer last year was ordered to serve a mandatory term of life in prison with no chance of parole during an emotional sentencing hearing Thursday...

Gibson was convicted by a jury in March of premeditated first-degree murder, murder of a peace officer and felony murder in the ambush-style slaying of Huff last May at a vacant east side duplex, a suspected drug house.
