Search underway for Upper Peninsula couple missing since before Christmas

Police are asking for the public's help to locate Paige Nichols and David Hunt II, who were last seen on Dec. 19.

IRON COUNTY, MI – State police are asking for the public’s help to find two missing people from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

The missing man and woman were last seen in the Iron River area on Dec. 19 and may be traveling on foot, Michigan State Police (MSP) said. Police are working to find the couple and verify their wellbeing.

The missing individuals are 32-year-old Paige Nichols and 46-year-old David Hunt II. Nichols is described as a white female, approximately 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 180 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Hunt is described as a white male, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 215 pounds, with a bald or shaved head and green eyes.

It is unclear as to why LE wishes to verify their well being. It doesn't appear from information provided that the woman is with him unwillingly.

David does have some extensive tattooing that may be useful in identifying him that are listed by the state Department of Corrections here:

He is NOT currently on probation or supervised release of any kind but completed incarceration in April of 2025 for the following convictions: The case info is not in the State MiCourt system as that lists only the District Court in Iron Co, and based on the charges this was likely processed in the Superior Court which doesn't list in the MiCourt Database.

The missing woman is likely fully aware of his background. She was released from incarceration in September 2024 after completion of her sentence on conviction for maintaining a drug house. Her tattoos are also noted in the DOC records (they are not listed in the missing persons resport).
