Could be blood evidence, baby wpuldd have different DNA than Rebecca, and they can tell when blood loss would be catastrophic
I believe that was a factor in the Kelsey Berreth murder.

I’m guessing Kim may have witnessed what happened and lied about it, giving rise to the charges against her. Once she cooperated, they had the evidence they needed to arrest Cortney any Bradly, so they let her go. The prosecutor’s narrative just strikes me as too detailed/complete to be based on just digital and forensic evidence. It would follow, then, that Kim also knew the baby was not born alive.

It’s possible that Cortney just told Kim everything, that would still be admissible evidence, or maybe Kim just witnessed part of what happened, but that doesn’t align as well for me with what we know. It would be interesting to know what information LE had that formed the basis of those charges against Kim.

Sorry if this has been answered but have they released the when on their deaths? Was it that night, body stored somewhere for 21 days, then dumped?

I guess if she was held for awhile first there would have been kidnapping charges too.

That is similar to a case in Montana, the daughter flipped on her parents, no jail time, even though she deserved it. Both parents got LWOP.

James Alex Hurley, RIP.

I think prosecutors framed it as everything happened the night she was taken, but they may changed it if the investigation brings in new info.

What struck me most in that hearing is how detached from reality she still seems. Even after hearing the charges laid out, she’s behaving as if there’s a scenario where she negotiates her way out of this. It’s almost chilling to watch someone speak so casually in the face of something this horrific.

At the same time, her lack of understanding or remorse doesn’t make the crime any less deliberate. The details coming out paint a picture of planning, opportunity, and intention — not a moment of impulsive violence.

If this case isn’t LWOP, it’s hard to imagine what would qualify.

JMO.
I’m not surprised at all. If you’ve ever followed a case involving meth users, this is typical behavior, IMO. These folks live in a reality we could never comprehend.

I’m curious about Cortney’s childhood. Do we know anything about her early life? I always search for the “why”. Not to excuse, but attempt to understand how it came to be.

"Stephanie Park said Rebecca was adopted at one year old along with her younger sister Kimberly and an older brother. She said she decided to speak out because she considers herself Rebecca’s real mom, having raised her since infancy."

I still don’t understand all the fine details.

So Rebecca didn’t reach out to Cortney in an attempt to establish a relationship. She was lured to thier home with a false story of an inheritance? That was how they reconnected?

I might be wrong about this, because I keep conflating this case with Anna Kepner's dysfunctional family as they are so sickly similar---but I think I read that Cortney's father was a RSO? Am I thinking of the other case or is this true of Cortney's childhood as well?"

ETA: I might be mistaken about that^^^^... I'm only finding Rebecca's bio-father and her step-father and her bf and father of her baby, as being RSO's. Maybe her grandfather was not ?

No, Becca had established a bit of a relationship when she was about 18 or so, I believe. She wanted to know about her birth family.

But sadly, it opened her up to a lot of bad influences, ending in devastation. :(

Wow. That was devastating to read. And so sad.

awe, the childhood photos of Becca and her siblings :(

I am still trying to come to terms with what CB and BB did to this young woman. She'll never get the chance to build a happy healthy stable life for herself. I can't get past the unfairness of it all, the life she was dealt, the death she was dealt.

Maybe she thinks she can get her way out of this by pinning it all on BB, saying he's the one who cut RP, hurt the baby, etc. There is no way she is ever getting out of prison (fingers crossed though) but I could see someone like her thinking they could talk their way out of this by blaming it all on someone else.
