Mr. Brand was reported missing by his son in 1995, although authorities believe he had not been seen since before November 1994 when a friend helped him close up his trailer that he used for a fishing cottage in the Upper Peninsula.

He was in good health and was not depressed or suicidal according to his family. Detectives believe foul play was involved.

His hair was described as dark gray and short.

He had false teeth and wore bifocals.

He walked with a limp as a result of childhood polio.
