MI Rochester Hills man 72 murdered by suspects posing as DTE workers

I could go a lot of different directions with this one, and I cant' wait to learn more details. Brazen as hell to do it like this though, knowing you're caught on camera (mask or not).

If these guys are from the area, I think they'll be caught quick. That heavy seat guy is very recognizable, and he spoke as well.

My theory right now is that this was a hired hit, and the solicitor told the killers that they could steal whatever they wanted, but not to kill the surviving victim.

This makes sense of the one murder victim, and the fact that these guys remained in the house for about 20 minutes.

Of course anything is possible though, and things could simply be as they appear.

Yeah, it's weird.

If she had escaped while they were still in the home, I'd just think it was a screw up. But they deliberately left a witness alive, and that's odd. She saw them, heard them. She was a threat.

MOO

From the Detroit News article linked above:

Bouchard said it appears the victims were specifically targeted rather than chosen at random. The attack may be linked to the victim's work, which Bouchard characterized as a "jewelry pawn shop" in Wayne County.

I imagine the survivor will be the first person of interest.
Yup, we’ve seen that a lot. That’s a place my mind initially went as well.

A counterpoint would be that these guys had the husband down the basement, so they wouldn’t necessarily be worried about her realizing what was going on at that moment. They could take care of him, and then worry about her.

Still a huge risk though. Like how do you know she’s not going to get suspicious, or that someone isn’t going to come home during those 20 minutes?

Forensics should help here, but I think that video will be most key early on. Someone has to recognize that first guy especially.

Yes the victim does own a pawn shop in Detroit. I feel it may have something to do with it. This is a wealthy and relatively crime free area

Suspect captured

One of the suspects was captured in Louisiana, hopefully he will talk and the other suspect will be caught soon.
My guess is that it's the heavier guy, as there's just no way someone wouldn't recognize him. I figured this would be broken quick, but didn't imagine it would be quite this fast. I can't wait to learn more!

ETA: It was that guy. He had no problem showing his face (some of it anyway), so I wouldn’t be surprised if he was actually from Louisiana. I think there will be more than two arrests here eventually.

Yes. Looks very similar to me. I knew we were looking for a big boy, but that guy is massive. It could of course be a typo, but I think the face matches (top half at least).

What you think?
Yes I agree and the arrest date makes sense. Didn’t expect him to be that big though!

Ok, it’s going to be our guy. Public records say that Carlos Jose Hernandez, the man in custody in Shreveport on an out of state warrant, lives in Dearborn Michigan.

It’s about 35 or so miles from where this murder occurred, and 15 miles from the jewelry store.

My guess is he was fleeing to Katy Texas, where he previously lived.
