Found Deceased MI - Russell Anderson, 56, last seen on mountain bike, Gaines Township, Kent County, 18 Mar 2019

This is where I live. It's a busy, busy, area where he was last reported to be seen. I'm GUESSING he returned cans at Meijer, a grocery/retail store, which is located Kalamazoo/68th. TONS of businesses, restaurants, etc in the area. It's a pretty nice area, and IMO not full of junkies that would kill him for a couple bucks, but you never know.. However, if he rode a bit further North of 44th more towards 28th, I would definitely believe it to be possible. It gets kinda sketchy there. And as a previous poster said, I hardly ever see cans laying around either, EXCEPT this time of year after the snow melts and before the winter debris is cleaned up.

It is an incredibly busy shopping district. That’s what made me wonder if someone in a car watched Russell collect his money, stalked him until they got a bit further out. I considered a truck or van. Even wondered if his bike malfunctioned & someone offered him a ride.......

I wish we knew where he was going for the day. It said he was seen on Kalamazoo between 68th and 44th, but I wonder which way was he heading? If he was going to take a big block home, there is a park that comes to mind, Paris Park. I wonder if that's been searched. There's quite a few trails too. I also wonder if he was heading home, to where it's more rural and got hit and moved to another location. I hope not. But it's a possibility.

IMO, folks collecting cans for redemption don't limit their hunting to the ground or along roadsides. They also search through dumpsters and trash containers. Some have an established route and know the best times to search.

Thinking of Russell, and thinking of his ailing father!

Body of missing man found in Gaines Twp. garage

A missing Kent County man was found dead in an unattached garage at his home.

[...]

Authorities said the garage was searched by both law enforcement and several family members since he was reported missing. At some point, he returned to the garage without notifying anyone.

A Kent County Sheriff’s Office release says evidence of drug use was found at the scene.

An autopsy was conducted Monday and there were no signs of foul play. Authorities estimate Anderson died on or around March 28, but are waiting for final toxicology reports.

I’m really surprised his tracks were not visible in the snow. However, I’ve not seen the garage, the distance from house, etc.

Edited to remove my assumption ‍♀️

ETA: so is his bike missing? Was it stored in garage normally?

Just a bit baffled that he was located right at home

You would think when someone goes missing someone would have checked the garage.

The article says that both LE and family searched the garage. He returned there sometime afterward. MOO

ETA: Ooops, sorry Cyber. We must have posted at the same time.

Wonder if he had a habit to go in garage to do his drug of choice & no one knew, hence never rechecking.

BBM
Where the heck was he for 10 days? Surely he must have been aware that people were looking for him.
