Mother Blames Spongebob For Hallucinations That Allegedly Pushed Her To Kill Her 3-Year-Old Daughter

Michigan mom accused of murdering her daughter believes she experienced hallucinations of the cartoon character Spongebob that convinced her to commit the horrific act.

On September 16, 2021, Justine Johnson is alleged to have stabbed her daughter, Sutton Mosser, to death. Mosser had turned 3-years-old just two days earlier.

Johnson was a heroin user and was reportedly in withdrawal when she had hallucinations of instructions that were coming from a television.

According to Johnson, Spongebob, who was speaking to her through the TV, threatened to kill her if she did not kill her daughter. The instructions were convincing, or perhaps terrifying, enough to persuade Johnson to do the unthinkable.

The teen said he asked his sister where Sutton was.
“She said, ‘Mind your own [expletive]ing business.’ But that’s like her normal response,” he testified.

I don't understand how she was allowed to keep her child. Maybe because she lived with her brothers? They seem to be good guys. Or she was never reported or investigated. Sad.

My office intends to proceed to trial, so a jury” can make a determination of guilt, Iosco County Prosecutor James A. Bacarella told CNN. “This case is a horrible tragedy and I cannot imagine the level of grief felt by the family that loved this child.”

Reached for comment, Johnson’s mother, Alisa Johnson, told CNN, “My daughter loved her child” and “the people are portraying her as someone she is not.”
