A medical examiner says that the body of a man in his late 40s was removed from a car in the parking lot of the Meijer.

It happened Sunday at the Meijer store on Highland Road near Pontiac Lake Road in Waterford...

Waterford police investigating possible suicide in Meijer parking lot

Waterford Township Police are investigating a possible suicide that occurred Sunday afternoon.

Police Chief Daniel McCaw said police were called to the Waterford Meijer store on Highland Road near Pontiac Lake Road around noon where they found a Waterford man in his late 40s dead inside his vehicle in the parking lot.

“It appears to be self-inflicted gunshot wound,” said McCaw, “but the Oakland County Medical Examiner will make the final determination.”

An autopsy is scheduled on Monday, officials there said...

The man has been identified as Chris Smart, 49, a resident of Waterford Township who owned Smart Property Solutions construction company.
