Yikes! Area used for target practice! We’re the shooters aware there were people nearby! If it was a known target area it must have been informal. Typically official shooting areas have barriers….long distances or a lot of land, a huge man made dirt berm, etc.

His NamUs file says "head not recovered" but also indicates there was a partial denture near the body. Does it seem a little odd that his dentures were found but his skull wasn't? I guess he could have been carrying them with him but not wearing them?

In this climate, animal activity and moisture might have caused the skull to be separated. The dentures wouldn't be as vulnerable to this. If this was a homicide that involved decapitation - ugh - the dentures could have been dropped or ejected.
