HAVRE DE GRACE, Md. - The death of a teen in Havre de Grace has been ruled a homicide.
Police were called to the 400 block of Webb Lane Wednesday afternoon after someone found the girl's body in a wooded area.
Family has identified the girl as 15-year-old Maleigha Solonka. She had been reported missing earlier this week. Solonka had been last seen on August 9, 2017 at 3 p.m. in the area of Windsor Valley in Edgewood, Maryland.
Her body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the State of Maryland for an autopsy, which ruled her cause of death as asphyxiation.
Havre de Grace Police are now investigating her death as a homicide.
Solonka's family say she was a victim of domestic violence. They set up a ******** page to help lay her to rest.
A vigil has been organized for 7 p.m. in Solonka's neighborhood.

Here's another article I just saw that says she was also a victim of domestic violence and that she had a hard troubled life. she had an aunt and uncle that were her legal Guardians. I have no idea if that's related to any of this or not , but it's this article. I'm also a bit confused because another article says she was found in a dumpster and this says a wooded area. was it a dumpster in a wooded area?

many photos there including one of her aunt Darlene Champ-Dupree who was her guardian, with her face covered in bruises. Maleigha had left them to go live with the grandmother as she was afraid: I guess they wont have to look far to find the person who did this.
