A boyfriend showed up at a university dorm room where his girlfriend of two months lived, held her captive for days, raped the victim and waterboarded her after becoming enraged by texts and photos on her phone, authorities in Minnesota allege.

Keanu Avery Labatte, 19, allegedly began the series of sex attacks in the St. Catherine University dorm in St. Paul last Thursday, Sept. 7, after the victim refused to have sex with him. Investigators said that the Granite Falls resident confiscated the victim’s phone, threatened her with a knife, and sexually assaulted, strangled, and beat her until Sunday morning — when she finally escaped by somehow persuading him to let her leave for some food.

omg.........

Labatte arrived on campus Thursday after making the 140-mile trip from Granite Falls to visit a girl he had been seeing for two months, according to a criminal complaint obtained by KSTB.

What was supposed to be a romantic weekend took a dark turn when Labatte found texts, pictures and social media information on her phone that reportedly “infuriated him.”

The man allegedly took her phone and kept it away from her for days so she couldn’t call for help while he allegedly tortured her.

He repeatedly raped and choked the woman until she was lightheaded inside her campus dorm room while making deranged threats to kill her and her family, prosecutors allege.

Labatte is accused of forcing his girlfriend to lie in a bathtub before covering her face with a washcloth and dumping water over her so that she struggled to breathe.

He also allegedly threatened her with a knife, telling her that he had held it against the throat of a previous girlfriend who had angered him.

The teen was already on probation for violating a restraining order another woman had taken out against him, according to court records.

Labatte faces three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count each of domestic assault by strangulation and threats of violence. He appeared before a judge on Tuesday, and his bail has been set at $80,000. His next court date is scheduled for Oct. 9.

I'm so glad this young woman survived - choking is a huge red flag as a precursor to homicide -- and so very sad she was subjected to this horrific trauma.
Hope this guy goes away for a very long time.

oh he's not going to do well in prison IMO

scary thought huh?!
Either no one heard anything or just ignored anything they did hear. :(
Isn't there dorm room managers?
Freshman dorms would have a Resident Advisor (RA) on every floor. Upperclass dorms, depends on the dorm's layout, might be as few as one RA per building. MOO + my experience many moons ago.

Thank you! Resident Advisor that's it, not manager. Too bad they cannot have panic buttons in the dorm rooms.
You'd think it should be safe in a dorm room!
