Remains of woman found in a Minnesota lake two decades ago are close to being identified

Her head was found in the summer of 1993 floating in a lake northeast of the Twin Cities. For more than 20 years, investigators have referred to the woman as "Bone Lake Jane Doe."

It’s not the clearest of photos but I hope they have looked into Linda Anger. She disappeared the month before unidentified was found, also from MN. Distance is 2 1/2 hours to The Lake from Byron, MN.

Linda was living with her ex-husband and his new wife and Linda's two sons. Her ex-husband stated he had dropped her off at the then Olmstead County Social Services building the morning of May 7, 1993 for an appointment. She did not show up and has not been seen or heard from since.

I was just looking at Missing women in Minnesota and then Wisconsin the year leading up to her discovery, due to the police tip. There was a Wisconsin woman that went missing. Her hair doesn’t match but her ears had three piercings. Here’s the NamUs page:

I am going to draw attention to this again since I know how to now.

I think they need to compare JD to Laurie Jean Depies, NamUs MP9076. She disappeared on Aug. 19, 1992. Her car was found with a soda on top and keys and purse inside, suggesting possible abduction.

There was a tip called in after JD’s discovery from a man who claimed to be her killer who claimed she was from Wisconsin. Laurie was from Wisconsin and her car was found in Menasha, just a four hour drive from bone lake.

Laurie and Jane Doe both had their ears pierced three times, which I think makes this match important to rule out even though Laurie was younger than the estimate of JD, at 20.

I think that it’s possible JD was held for a period of time, which would explain why the hair looks spiky and different from Laurie. Laurie’s hair appears to have dark roots, suggesting to me that the blonde was either dyed or sun-bleached. Due to the WI connection and the piercings I think this needs to be checked out, the physical appearance could differ slightly due to being held captive for a long while and a haircut.

I know it’s a crazy thought, but since this poor woman was found in Minnesota — and after Alyce Peterson’s identification, whose severed head was found in Wisconsin while she died in a hospital in Minnesota and was supposedly cremated — I wonder if there could be a connection

I still can't get over the purposeful dismemberment and separation of parts. Obviously the rest of this victim is in other bodies of water or various locations.

I agree. The culprit had a motive to do this. This case is heating up, hopefully there will be an answer. Last year, I was guessing the woman with brown eyes found in Bone lake was T. Reitler, (see attach.) but I am mistaken because the ages do not match. Thanks for your recent post.
