The discovery of human remains in a tote on the shore of Mille Lacs Lake has led to murder charges against a man and his girlfriend.

Bradley Weyaus, 21, faces one count each of second-degree murder and fleeing a police officer, and two counts of interference with a dead body or scene of death. Weyaus could spend 40 years in prison if convicted.

Alexis Elling, 21, faces felony charges of aiding an offender and accomplice after the fact. If convicted, she could spend 20 years in prison.

The tote was discovered by a public works crew clearing the area, bound with bungee cords and industrial tape. When it was too heavy to move, the container was opened.

Inside, the crew found various human remains, including a severed foot.

The medical examiner’s office identified the victim as 25-year-old Rodney Pendegayosh Jr., of Isle, whose family reported him missing the day before his body was found.

I thought that was awfully fast for an arrest, read the article and the perp ran from cops who were only responding to the call about the foot. If he'd have just pulled over they would have went right past him.

A Minnesota couple stands accused of killing a man who they thought dealt the female suspect’s brother a fatal mixture of fentanyl and meth, then concealed his remains in a tote bag found by a maintenance crew cleaning garbage along a snowy highway in Minnesota.

Burton laid out the timeline after public works employees discovered the missing Pendegayosh’s remains in a bag while cleaning trash off a road on March 20.

The workers first tried to move the bag onto the road to load it up and cart it off, but it wouldn’t budge.

“It’s too heavy,” the sheriff said. “So they hook a chain onto one of the handles of it, hook it up to one of their trucks. They try to drag it out that way. It breaks the handle, so they’re not able to move it that way.”

Curious about what was inside, they cut into the black duct tape and bungee cords and took a peek inside.

“They see what they believe to be a severed human foot,” the sheriff said.

They closed the tote and called the police.
