Charge alleges man, 24, fatally shot Sarah Wierstad on St. Paul's East Side

"Seven minutes after Sarah Anne Wierstad boarded a bus in downtown St. Paul Sunday night, she stepped off at the Beaumont and Burr stop, a block from her apartment on the city’s East Side.

Moments later, she lay dead on the sidewalk, shot through the heart."

A night of terror began in St. Paul and ended in Minneapolis on a Sunday in October with suspects confronting nine people at gunpoint, killing two of them...

The past charges alleged the suspects had headed to Minneapolis after Wierstad was shot. Surveillance video captured them at 8:16 p.m., less than 30 minutes after the shooting. Bell had used Wierstad’s credit card at a gas station...

At 9:18 p.m., Minneapolis police were dispatched to a report of a Latino man who’d been robbed at gunpoint in South Minneapolis...

Then, about 10 p.m., Minneapolis police found Julio Mozo-Cuata, 42, shot multiple times in an alley behind his home on First Avenue South, about a block from Interstate 35W. He later died...

At 11:17 p.m., police were called to another South Minneapolis home. A Latino man reported he, his wife and four children, ages 11 to 18, had been startled when three men, one armed with a gun, crashed through their back door.

Last week, Alvin Bell Jr., 25; Isiah Harper, 26; Michelle Koester, 42, and Albert McIntosh, 31, were charged with murder, aggravated robbery and burglary, and Freeman’s office will be asking for $1 million bail for each of them.

Koester and McIntosh recently finished separate significant prison sentences for aiding a murder and burglary.

“Stay tuned,” Freeman said. “There may be more charges coming.”

Wierstad’s friends and family were there to watch Isiah L. Harper’s sentencing on one count of aiding and abetting first-degree burglary. He pleaded guilty in March. A count of aiding and abetting first-degree aggravated robbery was dismissed.

Bound by the terms of Harper’s plea agreement, Ramsey County District Court Judge Leonardo Castro sentenced Harper to 5 3/4 years in prison...

Harper pleaded guilty in April in Hennepin County District Court to aiding and abetting second-degree murder, and is scheduled to be sentenced in June.

Albert George McIntosh was acquitted Friday of charges that he shot to death Sarah Wierstad, a young St. Paul mother, during a robbery and burglary at her home last year.

A Ramsey County District Court jury found McIntosh not guilty of intentional second-degree murder after about two days of deliberation.

Prosecutors in Hennepin County have alleged that later that night McIntosh participated in a burglary, a robbery and a shooting in Minneapolis that left a man dead.

McIntosh is still in custody and facing a second-degree murder charge in that case.
