The Brooklyn Park Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in finding a missing man with Alzheimer's.
According to a release, the man is identified as 89-year-old Sylvester Smith. He is described as a light-skinned black man, five-feet four-inches tall, weighing about 130 pounds.
He was last seen wearing grey sweatpants and a white zip-up t-shirt.
Family members told police the last time they saw Sylvester inside of his residence was at 4 a.m. Saturday. The residence is located at the 6600 black of Cherokee Lane North. When family members awoke at approximately 7 a.m., Sylvester was missing. It is believed he walked away from the home.
According to family members, Sylvester is sociable but is not familiar with the neighborhood. Police have been searching the area and have been unable to locate him. If anyone comes in contact with Sylvester, they are asked to call 911.
