Landscaping crew finds human skeleton west of Twin Cities

ANNANDALE, Minn. — The FBI is trying to learn more about human remains discovered last week by a landscaping crew digging on a lakeside property in rural Wright County.

A crew installing a rock wall near Clearwater Lake in rural Annandale, Minnesota, alerted law enforcement after discovering a human skull the morning of April 20, according to the Wright County Sheriff’s Office. The owner had recently purchased the property and was renovating and excavating to build a new home, the sheriff’s office said.

They ended up finding a nearly complete skeleton. Some missing cases from Wright and nearby counties; this is not very far away from the Jacob Wetterling kidnapping area:

Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene and worked with an FBI evidence recovery team to recover a nearly complete human skeleton. The FBI sent the remains to a facility in Quantico, Virginia, for analysis that will include carbon dating, according to the sheriff’s office.
The age of the remains is not yet clear, but based on the condition of the bones and the condition of the wood and nails recovered from the area, authorities say they appear very old. The FBI will analyze the remains and attempt to determine the age.
